It's another multi-DVD orchestral library! Does it merit a thunderous introductory timp roll or a feeble tap on a vibraslap? This ambitious project was conceived by two American producers, Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix respective heads of the East West and Quantum Leap sample library empires and brought to fruition by Grammy-winning recording engineer Professor Keith O Johnson. Making a library of this quality is not the sort of project you undertake on a spare weekend — in fact, making EWQLSO took a year of recording, editing and programming.

I'm happy to learn and read more if someone can point me in the right direction, but I just can't find the documentation or guides to making this work Not knowing if this would actually work with my current set-up, or if it would truly be a usable improvement over the included Sibelius Sounds, I am on a monthly subscription for now, and I only purchased the EWQL Hollywood Brass Sound Set from soundsetproject.
I followed all of the soundsetproject user manual directions and I think everything is installed where it belongs, but I'm having trouble getting sound playback when I try to use the EWQL configuration. I've tried it with new scores as well as old scores following the SSP instructions and nothing works. The standalone "Play" software that comes with EW instruments works fine, and 4 instances of "Play" are even showing up in the playback config and Sibelius mixer.
When I try to play a score, though, I see levels in the mixer lighting up for all of the individual instruments in the score, but the "Play" section of the mixer virtual instrument isn't showing a signal. In trying to troubleshoot the problem, I clicked the "gear" icon at the bottom of the "Play" section of the mixer to bring up the "Play" interface.
I didn't see any samples loaded, so I chose a few random sample patches for trumpet, horn, etc. When I tried playing back the brass quintet score again there were a few audible sounds coming out of the speakers obviously not the right ones and playback was somewhat intermittent. Hopefully this helps narrow down the problem. Can anyone point me in the right direction or give some advice?
I have searched far and wide and haven't come across anything helpful yet. Many thanks! Adam Boll adamboll gmail. Intel Core iK, 4 x 4. I have never seen your name before. The long and short answer to your question is that technically there is a way to make Sibelius work with the EW libraries. I trust you downloaded and installed Play and all the EW instruments, and installed the sound sets and everything? The reality is that it is really difficult to make things work smoothly with EW or any external library other than NotePerformer, unless you are really technically adept.
I am big fan of both Sibelius and the East West libraries, but it's not easy to combine them out of the box. Jonathan has created soundsets for a number of libraries, including EWQL. I've been through the soundsetproject. Not looking to take up too much of anyone's time and I'm happy to do the difficult set-up work and experiment to get things working, but I can't find info anywhere about the step that I must be obviously missing to get samples loaded correctly into the PLAY plugin.
Any guidance would be helpful. Did you actually buy and download the soundsets or did you just read about it? Follow the instructions in the Play documentation, as this is not a Sibelius issue. Desktop no-name, Microsoft Surface Book. I didn't understand the concept of "auto loading" when it comes to manual soundsets, so I wasn't grasping the advice you were trying to give me above.
After a quick email to Jonathan at SSP, he laid it out really clearly for me and I was able to follow his steps I didn't understand them when I read his manual earlier.
For the sake of anyone else who finds themselves stuck and searching this forum for a "how-to" guide for using EastWest Quantum Leap instrument libraries for playback within Sibelius, I'm going to recap a couple of things that took me a while to figure out so that they're all in one place for anyone who needs them: The first part is easy - download the EW sample library and follow EW's suggestions for where to save them.
Next, go to www. Read the documentation very carefully : and follow his instructions word-for-word down to the last detail! When you get to Section 5. Here is a simplified version of that section's instructions: 1. After selecting the "Hollywood Brass" [or whichever EW library you purchased] playback configuration, the sounds need to be loaded to the pre-assigned channels in PLAY.
Switch to the "Manual Sound Set" tab in the playback devices dialog. The sounds assigned to this instance are shown at the right of the dialog. Click "Show Close the PLAY plugin window. Repeat for the rest of the active PLAY devices, loading the sounds in each. Save the playback configuration so the sounds will be re-loaded when the configuration is selected in the future.
Click "Add You need to complete this step before you'll be able to set up the soundset for your EW library. Like I said in my first post, I'm entirely new to working with sample libraries other than "Sibelius Sounds" which comes with Sibelius.
That said, I hope that everything posted here is correct it's what worked for me. I'm guessing someone will post a correction below if anything here is wrong. Happy writing! I haven't tried to make the EW libraries work with Sibelius for several years.
Glad to hear that Jonathan -- the creator of the sound sets -- is still alive and well. I wrote a guide that could help you in setting things up and getting a good playback of your score. I wrote it in the first place for myself to get things clear and in order but it grew out to a much larger document than I had planned, one of the chapters explains how to work with the EW library in Sibelius 7.
